The Québec government renews its support for the PASQÉ program to help Québec suppliers to the electrical industry

MONTREAL, March 25, 2025 - The Association de l'industrie électrique du Québec (AIEQ) is delighted to announce the renewal of funding for the Plateforme d'approvisionnement stratégique québécoise en électricité (PASQÉ) by the Quebec government. This essential initiative, with an envelope of $7 million over two years, will continue to support the competitiveness and growth of Québec manufacturing companies in the electrical industry.

This initiative aims to strengthen the competitiveness of suppliers to the electricity sector, ensuring the sustainability of the supply chain and maximizing local economic benefits. It is fully in line with the government's strategy for the electrification of the economy, Hydro-Québec's Plan 2035 and the interests of industry, all essential levers for accelerating the energy transition. Since its launch in 2022, PASQÉ has helped increase the capacity of a dozen Quebec manufacturing SMEs to meet the requirements of local prime contractors, while stimulating innovation and modernization in the sector. It has also enabled some thirty STIQ diagnoses to be carried out, a process for assessing business practices with a view to identifying areas for improvement and proposing a concrete action plan to optimize company performance.

Thanks to the PASQÉ program, a number of Quebec SMEs have strengthened their position in the electrical industry supply chain. Here are just a few examples of inspiring success stories:

A company specializing in precision machining and welded fabrication replaced imports by producing transformer tanks locally, optimizing its planning and creating a dedicated team for a Tier 1 manufacturer in Quebec.
A leader in integrated electrotechnical solutions automated the winding of medium- and high-voltage motors, reducing production time from hours to minutes.
A company integrated a high-precision rail system, increasing the modularity, efficiency and competitiveness of its operations.
These successes demonstrate the significant impact of the PASQÉ program on the development and modernization of Quebec SMEs in the electrical sector.

By renewing its commitment to PASQÉ, the Quebec government is confirming its desire to support a strategic industry, a driving force behind Quebec's energy transition and economic sovereignty.

The AIEQ would like to acknowledge the work of Hydro-Québec and major contractors such as Boralex, who have supported this project from the outset. The AIEQ would like to thank Christine Fréchette, Minister of the Economy, Innovation and Energy (MEIE), for her support in this matter. Her commitment to the development of Quebec's electricity sector and the electrification of the economy contributes directly to strengthening the competitiveness of our companies and accelerating Quebec's energy transition.

" We are extremely pleased to be able to continue the PASQÉ initiative thanks to this new budget allocation of $7 million over two years. It's a demonstration of the value created since 2022 for Quebec SMEs, with transparent governance that ensures maximum impact on the local supply chain," said Alain Sayegh, Chairman of the AIEQ Board of Directors.
